Privacy Policy
Effective date: October 11, 2026
- Your food log, recipes, plans, favorites and shopping lists are stored only on your device. We never see them.
- To use the app you sign up with your email address (your first name is optional). That's all we store.
- We send you recipes and news only if you tick the newsletter box. Otherwise we only write about important changes to the app or this policy.
- No ads, no tracking cookies, no analytics, and we never sell your data.
- You can unsubscribe at any time with one click, or ask us to delete your details.
1. Who we are
Easy CKD (the “app”) is a kidney-friendly food log, recipe collection and meal planner, published at easyckd.com under the author name Ursa Nichols.
The data controller responsible for your personal data is Ana Petica (publishing as Ursa Nichols), Via Fabbrichetta 10, 10093 Collegno (TO), Italy. You can contact us about privacy at privacy@easyckd.com.
2. Data that stays on your device
Everything you enter in the app — the foods and recipes you log, ingredient amounts, nutrient totals, ratings, favorites and folders, weekly plans and shopping lists — is saved in your browser's local storage on your own phone, tablet or computer.
This information is never sent to us or to anyone else. We cannot see it, recover it or delete it for you. You control it: you can export it with the Backup feature, and you can erase it at any time with “Delete all data” in the app or by clearing your browser data.
Because some of this information may relate to your health, keeping it on your device is a deliberate choice to protect your privacy.
3. Data we collect when you sign up
To get free access to the app, you sign up with:
- your email address (required),
- your first name (optional),
- whether you chose to receive the newsletter,
- a record of when and how you signed up and accepted this policy.
Access to the app. We use your email to register your free access and to send you essential service messages only, such as important changes to the app or to this policy. Legal basis: providing the service you asked for (Article 6(1)(b) GDPR) and our legitimate interest in keeping users informed of essential changes (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR).
Newsletter. If you tick “Yes, send me new kidney-friendly recipes”, we also send you recipes, tips and news about Easy CKD and our books. Legal basis: your consent (Article 6(1)(a) GDPR). The newsletter is optional: you can use the app without it, and you can withdraw your consent at any time using the unsubscribe link in every email or by writing to us. Withdrawing consent does not affect emails already sent.
We do not ask for, and our email list does not receive, any health information.
4. Who processes your data for us
We use a small number of trusted service providers. They act on our instructions and may only use your data to provide their service to us.
| Provider | What they do | Data involved |
|---|---|---|
| Brevo (Sendinblue SAS), France | Stores the newsletter list and sends our emails | First name, email, consent record, email engagement (for example opens and clicks) |
| Netlify, Inc., USA | Hosts the website and app files | Technical data your browser sends when it loads the site, such as IP address and browser type, kept in short-term server logs |
| Aruba S.p.A., Italy | Domain and the inbox for hello@ and privacy@easyckd.com | Emails you send us |
Netlify is based in the United States. Where data is transferred outside the European Economic Area, it is protected by the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses or an equivalent safeguard provided by the provider.
5. Cookies and tracking
The app does not use advertising or analytics cookies and does not track you across other sites. It uses your browser's local storage only to keep your own data on your device, and an offline cache so the app works without a connection. Fonts and images are served from our own site.
Our newsletter emails may contain standard open and click tracking provided by Brevo, so we can see which recipes are most useful.
6. How long we keep your data
We keep your name and email for as long as you use Easy CKD or stay subscribed. When you unsubscribe from the newsletter, we stop sending it straight away. If you ask us to delete your details, or you have not opened any of our emails for 24 months, we delete or anonymize them, keeping only what we need to prove your consent and to respect your choices.
7. Your rights
You have the right to access the personal data we hold about you, correct it, delete it, restrict or object to its use, receive a copy in a portable format, and withdraw your consent at any time. To use any of these rights, email privacy@easyckd.com. We will reply within one month.
If you are in the European Union, you can also complain to your local data protection authority; in Italy this is the Garante per la protezione dei dati personali (garanteprivacy.it). If you live in the United States, you may have similar rights under your state's privacy laws, and you can contact us in the same way.
8. Children
Easy CKD is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has signed up, contact us and we will delete their details.
9. Security
The site is served only over an encrypted connection (HTTPS). We collect as little personal data as possible and use reputable providers with their own security measures. Your food log is protected by your device: we recommend keeping your phone locked with a passcode.
10. Not medical advice
Easy CKD is for tracking and information only. It does not diagnose any condition or replace advice from your nephrologist or renal dietitian.
11. Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will update the effective date above. If the changes are significant, we will tell newsletter subscribers by email.
